Unix Manuals:
|
There are two ways of accessing unix manual entries using Xupport.
|
| 1. Browse: |
Browser the unix commands alphabetically in "all" or a specific directory. |
| 2. Search: |
Search for a specific unix command or string. |
|
The description list displays the "whatis" or "apropos" result for your query. "whatis" and "apropos" search a set of database files, containing short description of system commands, for keywords and strings. If an appropriate manual page is available, it will get formated and displayed automatically.
You can enhance your search by adding a "*" to your search string. E.g. if you want to search for any command, beginning with the string "ip", enter "ip*". If the option "Search in all manual sections" is selected, you'll get a result list to choose from, otherwise the first search hit gets displayed.
