Disk Cloning:
Create bootable backups of your system disk. Use this to create disk clones, to move your running operating system from one disk to another (e.g. when replacing a hard disk), or to backup system folders individually.
Optimize Backup
Optimizes the backup by sorting the backup files logically, so that the system components are copied first and will be stored on the physically fasted place of the hard disk. This is also useful to de-fragment a disk for optimal system performance.
Make bootable
Check this, if you want the clone to be bootable. Be aware that all system folders (components) must be available on the source disk, and that none of them is removed using the "Remove" button. Main system items are: System, Library, bin, sbin, private, mach_kernel, usr
Replace / Update existing data
Choose whether existing files and folders should be replaced anyway or only updated if the source data has been modified since the last backup.
Detailed log
If checked, every copy item is logged, even every single file within a package or application. Otherwise only the folders and items on the root level get logged. Selecting "Detailed log" reduces the backup performance.
Shut Down after...
Check this, if you want the computer to shut down after the backup process is complete.

Software Restore:
Create a disk image of a volume for Apple Software Restore (ASR). The available space size on the destination volume must be twice the size of the source files. So if the backup source has a size of 10 GB, the destination volume must provide 20 GB at least.
Image type
Choose whether the final disk image is to be "Read-only" or "Read-only compressed".
Reset Apple Setup Assistant
This will reset the Apple Setup Assistant, so that it will launch again during the first startup of the restored computer.
Remove Users
This will remove any previous setup users of the source volume from the disk image.
